(Honolulu)–After the Honolulu City Lights tree lighting ceremony and the Public Workers Electric Light Parade on Saturday, December 3, relax on theCivicCentergrounds for two hours of great entertainment presented by Tihati Productions featuring comedian Andy Bumatai, ukulele virtuoso Taimane and Na Hoku Hanohano award winners Kapena, Kaukahi, and Barrett & Tara Awai, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Actor and comedian Andy Bumatai has a career that spans 30 years. He has recorded a number of comedy albums and TV specials and is currently in pre-production of a new talk show and is planning a return to the nightclub and concert stage.
Taimane began playing music when she was five and was discovered by Don Ho at age 13. She has played her ukulele all over the world and is known for dynamic performances that incorporate her eclectic interest in diverse musical styles.
Kapena, one of Hawaii’s premier island bands, has 20 albums to their credit. Led by Kelly Boy De Lima, Kapena continues to be an institution in local music.
Kaukahi features Barrett Awai, Kawika Kahiapo, Walt Keale and Dean Wilhelm. Their CD Life In These Islands conveys the aloha spirit and beauty ofHawaii.
Barrett & Tara Awai are a duo playing music that comes from their hearts. Barrett won a Hoku award as part of Kaukahi in 2007 and his release Kalana, featuring Tara’s vocals, won for Religious Album of the Year in 2010.
The concert will also include island contemporary music group Sam Kapu III Trio, the Anguay Sisters, local recording artist Starr Kalahiki, Ambassadors in Motion, the New Hope Band
& Singers and Halau of New Hope.
