(LÎHU’E) – To enable residents and visitors to access free basic medical, dental and vision services through Tropic Care, the county will be offering free rides on all of The Kaua‘i Bus routes from June 20 to June 29.
“We are pleased to partner once again with the Kaua‘i District Health Office and the Department of Defense Reserve Affairs on Tropic Care. It’s a tremendous opportunity for the public to obtain health care services at no cost to them,” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. “At the same time that Tropic Care is happening, I encourage the public to take advantage of riding the bus for free. Hopefully, they will see the benefits of public transportation and help us move towards becoming a more sustainable community.”
Approximately 280 reservists will be coming to the island for Tropic Care to provide free health care services, and at the same time, help them in their mission of being ready for rapid deployment. The services that will be provided include physical exams, eye exams, and eyeglasses. In addition, dental exams, tooth extractions and fillings will be offered.
The clinic sites are ‘Ele‘ele Elementary School, Kaua‘i Community College, and Kapa‘a Middle School. The clinics will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Sunday, June 26. On that day, they will close at 12 p.m.
