(Hawaii)– Hoping to apply to the University of Hawaiʻi Law School for Fall 2018, but unsure about the process? With applications open starting October 1, there’s still time to have questions answered and get the paperwork launched.
For all those who may have missed the September pre-law counseling sessions, the Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising Center at the University of Hawai‘i is hosting a “Crash Course” on Thursday, October 5, to offer admissions tips. The William S. Richardson School of Law Admissions team will be available to answer questions.
The workshop course will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 208 at the Queen Lili‘uokalani Center for Student Services at the Mānoa campus. It will cover the admissions timeline, plus information needed to become a strong candidate for the law school of your choice.
It will also explain the new one-year Richardson pilot project that opens admission with a GRE® General Test exam score as an alternative to the LSAT. The GRE® General Test is the most widely used graduate school entrance exam.
Richardson Law School recently announced that, for the upcoming year, it will accept applications based on the GRE® General Test or the LSAT.
The decision to accept the GRE® as a pilot project underwent intense study and is viewed by the Law School as an important first step in making it more accessible to a wider range of candidates. As such, it expands access to legal education for many students who are already considering graduate school and have taken the GRE® test, but may not have the time or funds to take the LSAT.
Acting Dean Melody K. MacKenzie noted that providing greater access to a legal education was a major factor in the Law School’s creation and that “accepting the GRE® test is consistent with the Law School’s values and mission.”
Workshop attendees are invited to bring a current resume or CV, and team members will cover how to tailor it for the application process.
RSVPs are not required in order to attend the workshop, but are greatly appreciated at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GLX7FT9.
