(Kauai)– County officials announced that registration for the 2012 Summer Enrichment Program is scheduled on Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The program is open to youngsters’ age’s five to 11. The program dates are June 12 to July 20, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Registration will be held at the following neighborhood centers: Hanapçpç, 335-3731; Kapa’a, 822-1931; Kalâheo, 332-9770; Kekaha, 337-1671; Kîlauea, 828-1421; Kôloa, 742-1313; and Lîhu’e, 241-6858.
The fee schedule is as follows:
n One child, $100 Income eligible families, $50
n Two children, $123 Income eligible, $62
n Three children, $135 Income eligible, $68
n Four children, $140 Income eligible, $68
Income eligible families must provide verification of financial or food stamp assistance at the time of registration.
Another summer program offered by the county is the Junior Leader Program, which is designed to offer young people ages 12 to 16 the opportunity to work with participants in the Summer Enrichment Program. To be considered for this program, applicants must submit an essay titled “Why I would like to be a Junior Leader” to recadm@kauai.gov.
The deadline to apply for the Junior Leader Program is Friday, June 1.
Registration for summer golf classes is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 14, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Wailua Golf Course pro shop.
The program is open to youngsters ages seven to 15. The registration fee is $35 per person per session.
Three two-week sessions are being offered at the Wailua Golf Course: June 4 to 15; June 18 to June 29; and July 2 to 13.
The sessions will run Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., except on holidays.
Participants will need to bring a golf bag along with the following clubs: a driver; No. 5, 7 and 9 irons; putter; and a pitching wedge.

Registration for summer swimming classes at the Kapa’a and Waimea swimming pools will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.
The program is open to youngsters’ age’s five to 11. Enrollment is limited, and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Two sessions are being offered – June 16 to July 14 and July 7 to July 25. The first session will be for beginners, while the second session will have classes for beginning and advanced swimmers.
The classes will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. One of the classes will run from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the second class, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 am.
