(Maui)– The new, two-story County of Maui Service Center building was officially blessed Tuesday before Department of Finance employees begin moving from current office space at the Maui Mall to the new facility at the corner of Hookele and Ala`ihi streets in Kahului.
The new $25 million Service Center is scheduled to open to the public on Jan. 19. The first floor is ready for employees to move in, and work on the second floor is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
“Our residents will enjoy the convenience and accessibility of this centrally located County of Maui Service Center as they get customer service from County agencies providing a range of services from motor vehicle registration and licensing to assistance with business research and development planning,” Mayor Michael Victorino said. “This beautiful building has been designed to provide excellent customer service, along with the ability to expand to meet the needs of the County employees who work here.”
The Department of Finance’s divisions of Motor Vehicle Registration & Licensing, Treasury and Real Property Assessment will move out of current office space at the Maui Mall and into the first floor of the new facility.
The second floor will be home to the Department of Public Works Development Services Administration, the County Department of Transportation, the Department of Liquor Control and the Maui County Business Resource Center.
