(KŌLOA) – The public is advised that Maluhia Road, from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Ala Kino‘iki junction, will be closed on Saturday, July 16, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a community clean-up.
During the road closure, traffic will be diverted to Kōloa and Piko roads. As a reminder, Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road. Motorists should allow for extra travel time and follow the speed limits and all traffic signs.
Electronic message boards are also installed to inform motorists.
The road closure will allow community groups to conduct their annual cleanup, “Gateway to the South Shore,” in preparation for the Kōloa Plantation Days. In addition, the County of Kaua‘i Roads Division will be present for roadside maintenance work.
The Tree Tunnel beautification project is spearheaded by Kōloa Plantation Days in partnership with various community organizations.
Anyone who would like to participate in the clean-up is encouraged to call Arryl Kaneshiro at 808-652-5216.
For more information about the road closure, you may call Bryson Vivas with the Roads Division at 808-241-4844.
