(Honolulu)– In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Mayor Rick Blangiardi announced today that Honolulu Hale and the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena will be illuminated green—the official color of mental health awareness—from sunset on Monday, May 26, 2025, through sunrise on Friday, May 30, 2025.
“As a community, it is essential that we break the stigma surrounding mental health and let people know they are not alone,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “By lighting these iconic city landmarks green, we hope to spark important conversations and show our solidarity with the countless individuals and families who are affected by mental health challenges.”
The green lighting in Honolulu is part of a nationwide movement to promote mental health awareness and encourage people to care for their emotional well-being. In May, more than 200 landmarks across the country—including One World Trade Center, Wrigley Field, and numerous NFL stadiums—were lit green in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, highlighting the growing national commitment to mental health.
Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed nationally since 1949. Each May serves as a reminder to promote education, provide resources, and encourage open dialogue about mental health.
