(HONOLULU) – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction is notifying the public that in addition to previously announced nighttime construction, two days of daytime work will also be required for the Kailua Beach Park Ocean Safety District Operations Base Station sewer connection project.
Daytime work will take place on Tuesday, October 14, and Wednesday, October 15, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. While the City is conducting as much of the work as possible at night to reduce impacts on the community, the daytime work is necessary due to the availability of construction materials needed for the project.
Street parking will be restricted in Lanikai on both days to minimize traffic impacts on area residents while daytime work is underway. These restrictions will be similar to the limits in effect during most holiday weekends, and absolutely no parking will be allowed in the area while the restrictions are in effect.
The sewer connection work is expected to be completed by Friday, October 24, 2025, weather permitting and barring unforeseen conditions.
As previously announced, the project involves the demolition and removal of asphalt roadway, installation of a new sewer lateral to an existing manhole, and roadway restoration. Night work will continue Sunday through Friday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., excluding holidays. A single-lane closure will remain in place during both day and night work periods.
Motorists are advised to anticipate possible delays, exercise caution when traveling through the area, and follow posted traffic signs and directions from Special Duty Police Officers.
The Department of Design and Construction appreciates the community’s patience as crews work to complete this essential sewer connection for the City’s new Ocean Safety operations base.
