(Oahu)– The necessary removal of an approximately 70-foot tall Bodhi tree on Mānoa Road will require the closure of the thoroughfare, and the rerouting of local traffic, while the work is being conducted in early February.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 2, 2026, for the removal of the tree located at 2406 Mānoa Road. The removal will conducted during daytime hours, with local traffic being rerouted onto Gore Way to navigate around the work site near the split of Mānoa Road into E. Mānoa Road.
The removal effort is expected to last up to 10 days, weather permitting. Hawaiian Electric tree maintenance contractors previously assisted with the trimming back of this large tree in early January 2026, utilizing the same traffic-mitigating measures being implemented for this work.
The mature Bodhi tree measures about seven-feet in diameter and is in good health. Unfortunately, the tree is impacting several public and private structures and utilities, creating a safety hazard.
The approximately $67,000 tree removal contract was awarded to O‘ahu Tree Works.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of Mānoa motorists, and the cooperation of the adjacent property owners, while this work is being conducted.
