(Kauai)– The northbound lane of Kawaihau Road, from the Kûhi‘ô Highway intersection to Mimilo Road, will be closed daily for two weeks for roadside work starting Monday, July 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Motorists wishing to turn on to Kawaihau Road from Kûhi‘ô Highway will be detoured to Haua‘ala Road.
The roadway improvement project is part of a half-mile offshoot of Ke Ala Hele Makalae, the multi-use path, spanning from the intersection of Kawaihau Road and Kûhi‘ô Highway to Gore Park.
Roadside work for another segment of the multi-use path is being done along Papaloa Road in Wailua, and is expected to continue until the end of August.
Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through these areas, obey all traffic control devises and police officers, as well as allow for extra travel time.
