(Maui)– The County of Maui, Volunteer Center will be holding Community Action Planning Training for Effective Volunteer Projects ”From Dream to Done” on Friday, August 10, 2012.
These community meetings are free workshops for the public. The training sessions will take place at the Cafe Ole at the Dunes from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes facilitators from Pacific Facilitation and Leadership, refreshments, giveaways and project awards. The training is intended for teams of two to eight people who have a project idea in mind to address problems in their communities. We encourage teams to have youth leaders involved and attend the training too.
The engagement of volunteers, available resources and team building activities helps participants develop an action plan to create safer and healthier communities. Participants will develop an action plan to organize a project, activity, or program that mobilizes a change in their community. Learning objectives include:
- Learning how to engage teens in volunteering and the do’s and don’ts when working with teens.
- Putting together a “living with purpose” motivational piece.
- Sharing your completed project/activity and networking with others.
Project Awards
Groups that have a clear purpose and are S.M.A.R.T. – Specific, Measurable, Accountable, Realistic and Time Bound – will be evaluated for awards to help support projects.
