(Honolulu)– Hale Nani Rehabilitation & Nursing Center officials announced today they had reached a three-year agreement with Unite Here! Local 5, the union representing certified nursing assistants, recreational and other staff employed by Hale Nani.
The agreement was ratified by a member vote of 117-1 and is retroactive to January of 2016.
“After several months of negotiations, I am proud of the Hale Nani family for coming together with a mutually agreeable plan,” said Steve Gold, Regional VP for Avalon Healthcare Hawaii. “We will work together to continue Hale Nani’s legacy as a place where our employees can thrive and offer great care to our patients and residents.”
Gold also explained that during the last several months, staff not related to negotiations pulled together to make sure quality of care was provided. “I want to recognize the staff that rolled up their sleeves to make sure we gave the very best of us to our patients; they are to be commended for their efforts.”
