(LÎHU‘E) – Kaua‘i RSVP, which is part of the Agency on Elderly Affairs, today announced the kick-off of a collection drive that will benefit Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity’s homeless emergency shelter.
“We are collecting hygiene products to donate to the homeless shelter as part of the Sept. 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance,” said Grants Manager Celia Melchor-Questin. “Contributions toward this effort would be greatly appreciated. Please share the information with your friends and neighbors.”
The products being collected are body soap, deodorant, laundry detergent, razors, rubber slippers, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and towels.
The items can be dropped off Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Agency on Elderly Affairs/Kaua‘i RSVP. The office is located at the Lîhu‘e Civic Center, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 330. The deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Additionally, donations will be accepted on two Saturdays, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Kmart and Times Supermarket in Lîhu‘e.
The National Day of Service and Remembrance was established in 2002 as an annual tradition of engaging in charitable service on Sept. 11.
