(Maui)– Maui motorists can renew their vehicle registrations annually in South Maui, with the installation of a second self-serve kiosk at Kihei Safeway in the Piilani Village Shopping Center, the Department of Finance announced.
A grand opening was held Feb. 11 for the first installed kiosk at the Maui Lani Safeway store in Wailuku. Both Kihei and Wailuku kiosks are available during store hours, including at night and on weekends. There is a 2.5 percent credit card fee charged to customers during kiosk transactions.
The kiosk houses a self-service terminal that allows people to use a touchscreen to process and print vehicle registration cards and emblems. The machine, referred to as an SST, accepts payments from debit or credit cards. Work on installing kiosks at other locations is ongoing.
Customers are able to perform the following transactions, provided their vehicle’s safety inspection is current:
•Renew their car, truck, motorcycle, and trailer registrations.
•Renew an expired registration up to 10 months and two weeks after expiration.
The next self-service terminals that will be installed will be at the Safeway store in the Lahaina Cannery Mall.
