(LĪHU‘E) – County officials have issued a reminder that applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waiting list will be accepted from Aug. 1 to Aug. 12.
The waiting list is used to fill vacancies in the federally funded program that provides rental assistance for very low-income families.
Applications will be accepted online from 12 p.m. Hawai‘i Standard Time (HST) on Aug. 1 to 4:30 p.m. HST on Aug. 12 at www.waitlistcheck.com/HI005.
Those without computers and/or access to the Internet can obtain a paper application at the County Housing Agency located at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building.
Paper applications must be mailed to the County Housing Agency, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 330, Līhu‘e, HI, 96766 and postmarked during the waiting list open period.
Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Eligible applicants will be selected for the waiting list using a random lottery system. Preference will be given to those who live and work in the County of Kaua‘i.
Applicants will be notified of their status via mail.
There is no charge to apply for the waiting list through the County Housing Agency.
The public is advised that individuals or companies offering application assistance for a fee should be considered a fraud.
