(Honolulu)–The City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management in conjunction with Hawaii State Civil Defense will test three outdoor warning sirens tomorrow Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The sirens are located at:
* Swanzy Beach Park
* Kahana Bay Beach Park
* Punalu’u Beach Park
The tests are being conducted to ensure that the sirens are operating at full power and providing optimal range.
Residents and businesses in the surrounding communities may hear the steady siren tone during the test and should not be alarmed.
Hawaii State Civil Defense funds the purchase and installation of these sirens. Once they are installed, they are released to the City for monthly testing and emergency activation.
