(Hawaii)–Trade winds will gradually return and gain strength through mid week, becoming moderate to strong. Clouds and brief passing showers will favor windward and mauka areas for the rest of the week.
A band of showery clouds will be west of the state today with isolated windward and mauka showers expected in its wake. Easterly trade winds will also be filling back in over most areas as the high continues building back in toward the state.
Starting Tuesday the high far to the northeast of the state will drift slowly westward placing the islands in a moderate to fresh trade wind environment. Shower activity will be mainly confined to windward and mauka areas and be highly dependent on available incoming moisture. The trade winds may be capable of blowing some brief light showers over select leeward areas at times.
Highs will be in the low to mid 80s through the week with wind 10 to 15 mph, gusts to 25 mph. Overnight lows in the mid 70s with windy conditions.
