(HONOLULU) – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction will begin nighttime construction work on Kapi‘olani Boulevard from Harding Avenue to Atkinson Drive starting Monday night, August 4, 2025. This marks the final phase of the Kapi‘olani Boulevard street rehabilitation project, which had been previously delayed due to the relocation of a gas line. Work will include installing new permanent pavement markings, roadway striping, and contraflow lane bases.
Work will take place weeknights, Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays), between 7:30 p.m. and 4 a.m., and is expected to be completed by November 2025.

Lane closures on Kapi‘olani Boulevard will be implemented in segments to facilitate construction and traffic flow. The contractor, Road Builders Corporation, will be responsible for coordinating and managing local area traffic for businesses and residents. “NO PARKING” signs will be posted along the sides of the roadway one week in advance to notify the public of upcoming construction activity. Drivers are asked to observe the posted dates and times, as vehicles parked in the posted segments of Kapi‘olani Boulevard will be towed at the owner’s expense.
The public is advised to use caution when traveling through the construction zone, anticipate delays, and allow extra travel time. Please drive safely and follow all posted signs, traffic control devices, and instructions from police officers on-site. The City and County of Honolulu appreciates everyone’s kōkua as the City works to improve our public roadways.
Any comments or concerns regarding noise emissions should be directed to the on-site project manager, Angelou Barcelo (phone number: (808) 295-1117, email: abarcelo@roadbldr.com).
