(KAIMUKĪ) – A tree planting and landscaping project to improve 19 street-side planting areas along a popular commercial corridor of Kaimukī is beginning today.
The planting areas are located along the mauka and makai sides of Wai‘alae Avenue between 11th and Koko Head avenues.
The project includes the planting of one new tree, the replacement of seven existing trees, and new ground cover in each of the planting areas.
The project is expected to take about a week, and will require the periodic use of street parking and a lane of traffic along Wai‘alae Ave.
The nearly $48,000 contract for the project was awarded to Island Landscaping and Maintenance.
Mahalo to members of Trees for Kaimukī for their assistance with this project.
