(HANAPEPE) – The Department of Water (DOW) has scheduled a 4-hour water shutdown for customers located on Kane Road, in the Hanapepe Heights subdivision, on Thursday, June 16. Water will be turned off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting, to allow the DOW to make upgrades to the hydrant in the area.
The DOW will be notifying affected customers door to door, tomorrow, June 15.
Affected customers are advised to take the following steps:
- Store enough water to meet your needs during the shutdown.
- Notify family, friends and neighbors that may be affected by the shutdown.
- Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
- Drive with caution and allow extra travel time while proceeding through the area.
A trailer mounted water tank providing potable water to affected customers will be located near the intersection of Moi Road and Alii Road. Customers must bring their own containers.
After the repairs are completed and the water main is turned back on, air may be mixed into the water causing it to appear white or milky in color. This is normal and the air in the water will eventually dissipate. If this occurs, water can be flushed out through an outside hose bib until the water is clear.
The DOW apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while improvements are being made.
