(Honolulu)– The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii – Spalding Clubhouse will host its third annual Day for Kids Carnival on Saturday September 12th from 10:00am-4:00pm on the Washington Middle School field at Punahou & King Street.
The event is aligned with the national Boys & Girls Club of America initiative to provide youth and their families the opportunity to play and have fun together. The event will feature large carnival games such as a bungee run, rock wall, bouncers, an obstacle course and a dunk tank featuring community leaders (like WMS Principal Mike Harano!). Additionally, smaller game booths will be fun for kids of all ages and will provide opportunities to win prizes. Guests will enjoy live performances from Washington Middle School and Boys & Girls Club youth, as well as a special visit from Representative Saiki. Concessions will be provided from Murphy’s Bar & Grill and Coca-Cola.
Community resource booths will also be offered in partnership with Hawaii Pacific Health, First Tee Hawaii, Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii, Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts, Ho’ola Na Pua, and Iolani Robotics. There will be a relay race and a bean bag game with grand prizes such as a Microsoft gaming console, bicycles, Wet’n’Wild admission passes, Dave & Buster’s passes and Boys & Girls Club gear. The event is being made possible by title sponsor Coca-Cola, along with support from Murphy’s Bar & Grill, Delta Construction, Wet’n’Wild, Savers, Ross Dress for Less, Microsoft and Washington Middle School. Parking will be available at Washington Middle School.
All proceeds from the event will go to support activities at the Spalding Clubhouse, an afterschool program that serves youth ages 7-17 for an annual fee of only $25.00. The Charles C. Spalding Clubhouse opened to the community nearly 40 years ago and throughout the years, has grown to serve an average of over 1,000 youth each year. Guided by the framework of the Formula for Impact, youth become involved in programs that support a commitment to learning, positive values, healthy habits and high expectations for success as an adult. The Club provides ongoing relationships with caring mentors and connections to new friends in a positive environment, reinforcing a sense of belonging, personal accountability, civility and civic responsibility.
