(Oahu)– The Arts District and Merchants Association of Chinatown (ADMA) is organizing a community clean-up of Chinatown this Saturday, July 12, 2014.
“We’re really excited about gathering different business owners, residents, and volunteers for this upcoming cleanup,” says ADMA’s secretary Sandy Pohl, who also owns the Louis Pohl art gallery. “Throughout the past few years, we’ve seen a tremendous amount of new energy in Chinatown. We’re fortunate to be able to harness some of that energy and give back to the community with this cleanup.”
The Chinatown Cleanup begins at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the Louis Pohl Gallery, 1142 Bethel Street to get instructions, form teams and pick up supplies.
Graffiti clean up and trash removal are on the agenda for this event. Light refreshments, donated by area merchants included.
“It’s going to be a great day and we’re all really fired up to give back to the neighborhood. We’ve seen dozens of new businesses open around us, so we feel really good about giving back to the neighborhood by volunteering,” said Jeff Mull, co-owner of are boutique, Owens and Company. “If you care about this historical neighborhood, this is a great opportunity to come down and do some good.”
