(Honolulu)- Spalding Clubhouse is hosting its second annual Day for Kids Carnival on Saturday September 13th from 9a-2pm at the Washington Middle School Field on Punahou & King Street. The event is aligned with the National Boys & Girls Clubs of America initiative to provide youth and their families the opportunity to play and have fun together. The carnival will feature crowd favorites like the rock climbing wall, dunk tank, inflatable obstacle course and bounce house, and a new ride the “Mind Winder” in additional to all of your favorite carnival games! Kids and adults are also encouraged to enter the Field Day Competition for a chance to win awesome gift cards and prizes. Challenge your friends and family to see who is the best at tug of war, sack races, the ball hop relay, three-legged races and a water relay! The carnival will also have performances from Club members, the WMS band, dance club and zumba, and local community groups like Team Drumline, the Kukui High School Alumni Big Band, and a Native American dance performance. Concessions will be served up fresh from Murphy’s grill. Plus, win great prizes with the bean bag raffle like Club gear and family passes to local recreation spots. The entire carnival is available with unlimited turns on all rides and games for a $20 pre-paid wristband ($5 for keiki 5 and under) or pay $25 at the door. The event is being made possible by partnerships from Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Ross Dress for Less, Murphy’s Bar & Grill, E.A. Buck, Savers, and Washington Middle School. Parking will be available at Washington Middle School and Central Union Church.
100% of the proceeds support the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii. All proceeds from the event will go to support activities at the Spalding Clubhouse, an afterschool program that serves youth ages 7-17 for an annual fee of only $25.00. The Charles C. Spalding Clubhouse opened to the community more than 35 years ago and throughout the years, has grown to serve an average of over 1,000 youth each year. Guided by the framework of the Formula for Impact, youth become involved in programs that support a commitment to learning, positive values, healthy habits and high expectations for success as an adult. The Club provides ongoing relationships with caring mentors and connections to new friends in a positive environment, reinforcing a sense of belonging, personal accountability, civility and civic responsibility.
