(HONOLULU) – Hawaii job seekers will get to see first hand the opportunities available at some of the state’s top technology and high-growth companies at the High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) 15th Annual Holiday Tech Fair on December 29 at the Japanese Cultural Center. Free resume evaluations and headshots kick off the night from 4 to 5 p.m., the job fair starts at 5 p.m. and continues through a networking pau hana from 6 to 8 p.m. Gov. David Ige will also be in attendance.
The free fair is open to the public and designed to appeal to kama‘aina who are returning home for the holidays in search of careers that will allow them to move back to Hawaii. Companies such as Navatek Ltd. that have been a participant of the fair since 2006 have hired kama‘aina for engineering positions as a result of the fair.
“The Holiday Tech Fair began as a means to reach talented kama‘aina and show that they can find good jobs here,” said HTDC Executive Director Robbie Melton. “It has grown to become a showcase of good jobs, new technology created in Hawaii and the momentum the innovation community is building. The fair provides a taste of what Hawaii could gain through our ambitious new 80/80 plan to create 80,000 new technology and creative industry jobs earning $80,000 or more in the state by 2030.”

Burns School of Medicine The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii is a co-sponsor of the fair. “In alignment with the Chamber’s mission, this initiative will highlight innovative local businesses that are advancing Hawaii’s presence in the technology field, as well as connect Hawaii’s skilled workforce to potential employers and provide great resources and tools to job seekers,” said Sherry Menor- McNamara, president and CEO of the Chamber. Closing out the job fair will be a special edition of WetWare Wednesdays, a monthly gathering of Hawaii software developers, students and educators to share ideas, collaborate and spark new opportunities to further the software development community in the state.
