(Honolulu) – Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH) has appointed Jacy L. Youn to Kauai Area Executive Director. In her position, Youn is responsible for leading all facets of the Kauai Branch, including resource and board development, establishing strategic alliances with the community and civic officials, and supervising the Kauai team. BGCH maintains three clubhouses on Kauai, located in Lihue, Kapaa, and Waimea.
Youn has a diverse background in communications, law, and journalism, and a long history of work with various charitable organizations. She is returning to BGCH, after having served on the organization’s Alliance Board from 2004 to 2008.
Prior to joining BGCH, she served as Corporate Communications Manager & AVP of Central Pacific Bank, a publicly traded financial institution based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and as a legislative research attorney at the Hawaii State Capitol. She has also worked as a legal fellow at the World Organization for Human Rights in Washington, D.C., and has extensive experience as a journalist, most recently as Managing Editor of Hawaii Business magazine, where she spent seven years reporting on Hawaii’s most pressing socioeconomic issues.
“Jacy has the diverse skillset and the high leadership caliber needed to oversee the successful growth of our Kauai operations,” said BGCH President & CEO Tim Motts. “We’re happy she’s decided to return home to Kauai to lead our team and help strengthen our operations.”
Youn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, with a minor in writing, from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. She is an alumni of both the Pacific Century Fellows and Leadership Kauai programs and currently serves on the steering committee of the Downtown Athletic Club of Hawaii and the advisory board of MANA Magazine. She is also a mentor at the Children of Incarcerated Parents program.
