(LĪHU’E) – Two free interactive workshops about how to use U.S. Census data for grant writing and community analysis are being offered on Thursday, July 23.
The workshops will be held in two sessions from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Community College, Office of Continuing Education and Training, Room 104, PC Lab.
The first session is geared toward grant writing professionals and individuals interested in learning the basics of using census data in grant proposal writing, community analysis or market research. Participants will learn how to access census demographics to help build an effective case for project funding.
The second session will focus on community data. Participants will learn how to use census population and business data to assess the community or service area they are interested in. Attendees will also learn how to use the U.S. Census Bureau’s data tools, such as the American FactFinder tool, to obtain key data efficiently. Lastly, the workshop will focus on accessing race and ethnicity data for Hawai‘i.
Jerry Wong, data dissemination specialist for the Census Bureau’s Los Angeles Region, will conduct the workshops.
The workshops are sponsored by the Kaua‘i Workforce Investment Board, Kaua‘i Community College Office of Continuing Education and Training and the Office of Economic Development.
