(Oahu)–This landmark exhibition celebrates Harue McVay, University of Hawai‘i professor emeritus of art, as an artist and her contributions to the Hawai‘i community through the inspiration of ceramic as a fine art medium.
Harue McVay played a significant role in establishing a redefinition of ceramics in the state of Hawai‘i during her 43 years of teaching in the Art Department at UH. The exhibition includes a range of Harue’s ceramics created during her teaching years, as well as in retirement.
Tom Klobe, professor emeritus of art and founding director of the University of Hawai‘i Art Gallery, is curator of this historic exhibition.
Gallery ‘Iolani celebrates 23 years of exhibitions at Windward Community College and is recognized as one of the finest exhibition sites in the state of Hawai‘i, showing work from local, national and international venues. The gallery also serves as a classroom for students studying gallery design and management at WCC. Gallery ‘Iolani is located adjacent to Palikū Theatre in the Hale Pālanakila complex.
