(Honolulu) – The Plaza Assisted Living (“The Plaza”), Hawaii’s largest assisted living company, recently aired its new “Day in the Life at the Plaza” tv commercial and 2‐minute companion web‐video, both filmed using the “hyper lapse” technique, which captures activity and movement taken over long periods of time, and presented in a shorter, “time‐lapse” sequence.
The Plaza’s “Day in the Life at the Plaza” hyper lapse videos were created to provide a glimpse into a typical day for Plaza residents, showing that life at the Plaza is vibrant, exciting and full of variety, keeping in step with the Plaza’s corporate vision, which is to “change the way you think about senior living”. The Plaza is among the first in its industry to use the new hyper‐lapse format, which was filmed and produced by local production company, Kinetic Productions. Of the video project, Kinetic Production’s Ryan Kawamoto said, “The concept behind the project was to highlight a “day in the life” of the Plaza, in which we’d experience some of the activities and experiences of the residents. The hyper lapse technique allowed a way to move through The Plaza (at Moanalua) throughout the day and experience some of these moments. It also provided a fun and fresh way to present the experiences of the residents of The Plaza.”
Kawamoto added that the experience of filming the project at The Plaza also “opened” his eyes about senior/assisted living, saying,
“I found that many of the residents lead fun, active lives from sunrise to sunset. I had imagined it would be a lot of people sitting around and napping, but that wasn’t the case.
From lively activities like visiting the Windward side in The Plaza shuttle van to tailgating and watching the UH Football opener in their private theater, I was amazed at how much fun everyone was having. I was actually a bit jealous of some of the things the residents were doing. It was great getting to meet the residents and staff and to see what life can be like in a vibrant place like the Plaza. Everyone was incredibly friendly, which made it a rewarding experience to have the opportunity to document this day.”
The Plaza’s “Day in the Life at the Plaza” hyper lapse 30‐second tv commercial is currently airing on KHON2, KBFD and Hawaii News Now. A longer (2‐minute) version of the video can also be viewed on The Plaza’s corporate website at www.PlazaAssistedLiving.com or on its Youtube channel https://youtu.be/5OuCvrv0s3o.
