(Kauai)– County officials announced that residential household hazardous waste (HHW) will be collected free of charge on April 9 and April 10.
Among the items that will be accepted are automotive products, lead-acid batteries, lawn and garden products, oil-based paints, thinners and stains, fluorescent lights, batteries and more.
The collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:
- Hanalei refuse transfer station, 5-3751 Kûhiô Highway, Saturday, April 9
- Kapa‘a Baseyard, 4900 Kahau Road, Saturday, April 9
- Hanapçpç refuse transfer station, 4380 Lçlç Road, Sunday, April 10
- Lîhu‘e refuse transfer station, 3450 Ahukini Road, Sunday, April 10
To accommodate the HHW collection, the green waste service at the Hanalei refuse transfer station will be closed on Saturday, April 9.
No commercial or farm waste will be accepted.
In addition, latex paint will not be accepted as it is not considered household hazardous waste.
