(LĪHU‘E) – The four HI5 bottle redemption centers that are operated by Kaua‘i Community Recycling Services (KCRS) will be closed for a few days next week while the new processing vendor mobilizes.
The facilities will be closed on the dates noted below:
- Kapa‘a, 962 Kipuni Way, Arzadon Industrial Park, from Monday, Dec.19 to Wednesday, Dec. 21
- Kīlauea, 5-2723 Kūhiō Highway, behind Kaua‘i Mini Golf, Dec. 20
- Kekaha, Kekaha Road, across from the old sugar mill, Saturday, Dec. 17 and Wednesday, Dec. 21
- Kōloa, 2810 Po‘ipū Road, next to the fire station, Dec. 18
The HI5 redemption center at the Kaua‘i Resource Center (KRC) on Ahukini Road in Līhu‘e will be temporarily closed starting Dec. 14 while the new operator completes the state certification process. An announcement will be made regarding the reopening of the KRC, which is expected to take place at the beginning of the New Year.
The HI5 redemption centers that are operated by Reynolds Recycling in Līhu‘e and Kapahi will maintain their normal hours of operation. These facilities are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lunch break from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Battery recycling and free composting bins will continue at the KRC as the Solid Waste staff with offices at the facility will be on hand.
