(Honolulu)– On Friday, January 20th at the Waikiki Shell, the inaugural Power To The Positive concert unites local organizations, residents, visitors and artists driven by the desire to better our communities. The event is free to the public and available to all ages with doors and music opening at 5pm and the official program running from 6pm to 10pm. Upon entering the Shell, attendees will find a large number of booths hosted by a wide-range of organizations. The Waikiki Shell stage will feature live music performances by a diverse array of artists including Makana, Taimane, Kenneth Makuakane, Black Square, Jamarek, Men In Grey Suits, Hawai’iki and more. Between acts, various speakers will highlight opportunities for attendees to get involved with local organizations and help foster positive outcomes. Ono and healthy food will be available for purchase from Istanbul Hawaii, India Cafe and Hawaiian Fresh Farms.
“This concert is an opportunity to come together and celebrate our diversity; to translate some of the angst and frustration from the recent election into positive actions and outcomes for organizations and communities that may be adversely and disproportionately affected by the incoming President and his administration,” states event co-producer and Chair of the Democratic Party of Hawai‘i, Tim Vandeveer.
Mark Tarone, event co-producer and President of T-Rx Entertainment adds, “I’ve produced and promoted events in Hawaii for fifteen years. Nothing is more powerful than hands on involvement by many. Power To The Positive is about getting involved, taking action and lifting our communities and hearts. Positive outcomes will be driven by local acts. President Obama hailed this exact approach in his first press conference after our recent national elections. A tremendous opportunity exists here because of the huge number of people who care in Hawaii. It’s all about taking that first step – getting involved. Power To The Positive is an ideal time for people to do so.”
