(HONOLULU) – The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) responded today to a sanitary sewer overflow in Manoa.
ENV received a call at 2:08 p.m., arrived at the site at 2:45 p.m., and the spill ended at 4:56 p.m. Heavy rains caused untreated wastewater to discharge from a manhole at 2702 Lowrey Ave. An estimated 9,700 gallons spilled and entered a nearby storm drain.
ENV notified the state Department of Health (DOH). Warning signs will be posted tomorrow, weather permitting. DOH waived collecting water samples because Oahu is under a Brown Water Advisory. The spill site was cleaned, disinfected, and deodorized.
