(O‘AHU) – It’s never too early to think about your summer plans, and the amazing job opportunities the season provides. Especially if you enjoy working with kids, at a location near you, while providing safe and enriching opportunities for the keiki during their seasonal break. All of these rewarding benefits are just a few of the perks of working as an aide for the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation’s (DPR) popular Summer Fun Program!
To get a head start on recruiting the hundreds of staff needed to make this program a success, DPR is now accepting applications for adults interested in working for the 2024 Summer Fun Program. Contracts for the seasonal workers are from May 22 through August 3, 2024.
You can choose from five different positions, at dozens of Summer Fun sites across the island, offering between $16/hour and $19.14/hour. Not only is this a fun and dynamic opportunity to work with kids and gain experience in the childcare and recreation industries, becoming part of the Summer Fun staff is now easier than ever with applications being accepted online!

The 2024 Summer Fun Program is scheduled to run from June 10 through July 26, 2024. An updated list of 2024 Summer Fun sites, along with keiki registration dates and additional program details, will be announced later. Typically keiki registration is held in early May, and will be conducted primarily online using the pros.hnl.info website.
Summer Fun is an affordable, city-operated, seasonal day camp where children are engaged in learning experiences in a fun and safe environment. These opportunities help build on soft skills, which promote leadership and future educational and lifelong success. DPR aims to accommodate approximately 10,000 keiki and teens in the 2024 program, which requires more than 500 seasonal staff. Ultimately, the more staff we get, the more keiki we can accommodate, the more fun it is for everyone. So, apply today to be a part of this amazing park program!
