(HONOLULU)—Mayor Rick Blangiardi is accepting applications for the pivotal role of Deputy Director of the Department of Design and Construction (DDC). DDC, the lead city department responsible for the design, construction, and repair of the city’s infrastructure and facilities, is seeking a leader who will play a crucial part in its operations. The director leads a team of approximately 197 employees divided into four major divisions: Mechanical/Electrical, Facilities, Civil, and Land.
The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity to report to and work closely with DDC Director – Haku Milles, a seasoned professional in the field. This collaborative work environment will assist in leading and managing an efficient and professional organization focused on doing the right project at the right time and the right cost, always keeping the obligation to be good stewards of public funds. The role requires excellent program management skills and the ability to ensure effective planning, design, project/construction management, and inspection; and experience with federal, state, and county-funded CIP (Capital Improvement Program) construction projects from application for funds to project management and execution through completion.
