(O‘AHU) – Pearl City District Park is gearing-up for a renovated gymnasium just in time for Summer Fun 2025!
A project to improve the park’s gymnasium began Monday, December 16, 2024, with an estimated completion just before the City’s most popular keiki and teen program in June 2025.
The project includes removing and replacing the gymnasium roof, rebuilding the ventilation and awnings, and window replacements. This effort is so extensive it will require the closure of the gymnasium, a portion of the upper baseball field, and intermittent closures of the adjacent basketball courts.
The over $1.3 million construction contract for this project was awarded to Kapili Construction.
Opened to the public in June 1956, the 9.95-acre district park is one of the City’s 27 district parks around O‘ahu. Along with the gymnasium and outdoor courts for basketball, volleyball and tennis, this park boasts a 25-yard pool with a separate training pool.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of Pearl City District Park users while the gymnasium and adjacent facilities are impacted by this improvement effort.
