(HONOLULU) – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services (ENV) is announcing critical sewer repair work starting April 14, 2025, along Fort Weaver Road in ʻEwa Beach. The project will address a damaged section of sewer line that, while not currently causing sewage spills, poses long-term risks to both wastewater capacity and road stability.
Frank Coluccio Construction Company has been contracted to carry out the repairs, which are scheduled for completion by October 2025. This proactive infrastructure project restores the sewer system to normal functionality and ensures continued protection of public health and road safety.
“Investing in our core infrastructure today helps prevent costly environmental and roadway impacts in the future,” Roger Babcock, ENV director, said. “We appreciate the community’s patience as this necessary work moves forward.”
To expedite completion, construction will occur weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with weekend and holiday work from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as needed. A temporary pipeline diversion system will operate continuously throughout the construction phase until the new sewer line is installed and operational.
Construction activity will be focused along Fort Weaver Road, in the section identified in blue on community flyers. Portions of the road may be temporarily inaccessible, and roadside parking will be limited to accommodate the work. Traffic control measures and detour routes will be in place to ensure public safety and maintain access to surrounding areas.
Residents and businesses in the immediate vicinity may experience moderate noise levels due to heavy equipment. ENV will continue to coordinate closely with affected property owners to minimize disruptions and provide timely updates on construction schedules and traffic impacts.
