(Kailua)– Ed Chun (Coach Ed) has had success coaching youth to collegiate athletes in baseball, volleyball as well as strength & conditioning. Throughout his coaching career, Coach Ed has been a part of multiple championship teams.
In 2004, Coach Ed led Kailua High School to an OIA baseball title and Kalaheo High School to an OIA volleyball title. In 2005, Coach Ed took over the strength & conditioning program for St. Louis High School’s baseball program, which advanced to the HHSAA state championship title game. Coach Ed later moved to California to pursue his banking career and assist with the women’s volleyball program at Orange Coast College. Currently, he is the head coach for the Kalaheo High School boys volleyball program and the new Girl’s Head Volleyball Coach for Le Jardin Academy in Kailua.
Ed started playing in his junior year at Kailua High School. At Orange Coast College, Ed earned freshman of the year honors, most valuable player honors as a sophomore, and his team finished as runner-up at the Junior College State Tournament. He still holds the OCC single-season dig record set in 2001. He then went on to play one year in Germany. Ed travels annually to the Chinese 9-man volleyball tournament where this year, they placed second out of 53 teams in Montreal, Canada.
Matt Bittick is the beneficiary of a significant heritage in US Swimming and Water Polo, having spent much of his life in aquatic Olympian circles. His father Charles Bittick graduated from USC where he set the 200M Backstroke World Record in 1961, 35 American Records and played on the 1960 US Olympic Water Polo Team.
Matt is a graduate of USC where he played water polo, and is a former U.S. National Water Polo Team member and All-American. During High School his accolades include 1984 National Junior Olympic Silver Medalist team, National Championship High School team member 1986 and 1987, United States National Junior Team 1986, 87 & 88. He coached for 1 year at San Marino High and 1 year at Chaminade University, and has been an ad-hoc coach for numerous other schools through the 90’s. He has been married to Patricia for 16 years and is the father of LJA students Joshua (9th Gr.) and Giselle (5th Gr.). He is the founder and owner of Bishop Street Commercial and is affiliated with the USC Alumni Association, Hope Chapel-Kaneohe Bay, Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and a former board member of the Aulea swim club. Matt Bittick is the Varisty Boys Waterpolo Coach at Le Jardin Academy in Kailua.
