(Kaneohe)—The skies of Kaneohe rumbled on Sunday as the MCB Hawaii presented the Kaneohe Bay Airshow to the delights of thousands of spectators.
Crowds were not disappointed all around the island as the performances and displays of this show could be seen high in the sky to the amusement of those who came here to be inspired by gravitiy-defying performances.
The signature performance of the event was without a doubt the world-famous Blue Angels as they celebrated 25 years of performing in the F/A-18 Hornet aircraft. “The event was wonderful,” said Guy Smith, who attends the show every year. “I was inspired to see so many amazing performances in such a well-organized event, one of the best!,” said Smith.
One-by-one, the Angels flew across the skies, with the Kaneohe Bay ridgeline as spectators, dazzling watchers with almost impossible maneuvers that celebrated the rich heritage of American aviation advances.
The crowds came from many places of the island, and the world, to witness a spectacle of sound and visuals that amazed enthusiasts of all ages.
“When I grow up I want to be a Blue Angel,” said Eric Stevens, a young boy who was clearly inspired by the precision techniques of these pilots.
The show was also well complemented by the aerial maneuvers of Red Bull Aircraft pilot Kirby Chamblis, known as one of the best aerobatic pilots in the world thanks to his ever lasting desire to push the envelope by executing maneuvers with absolute meticulousness while racing against the clock.
Other exhibits at the show included helicopters, tanks and displays of assault weapons. The event was a complete success thanks to the extensive planning of event organizers and the great hospitality of MCB Hawaii.
