(Kauai) — In its overall efforts to improve bus service, the Transportation Agency will be implementing changes to its Kôloa routes starting Sunday, Oct. 28.
“The changes are designed to make it more convenient for residents and visitors, especially those who work at South Shore hotels and business, to get around the Kôloa-Po’ipû area,” said Celia Mahikoa, executive on transportation. “It will also be easier for them to connect with Mainline Route 100, which heads into Lîhu’e, or Mainline Route 200, which goes out to Kekaha.
The first change will be an increase in the frequency of the Kôloa Shuttle Route 30.
On weekdays, the Kôloa Shuttle Route 30 will run every hour, from 6:15 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. Since ridership is lighter on weekends and holidays (except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day), the schedule will be slightly different – 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
The second change will be the elimination of two mainline routes, No. 300 and 350.
“With the increased frequency in the shuttle, it will no longer be necessary to have these mainline routes service the South Shore,” explained Mahikoa.
