(Maui)– Kaiser Permanente Hawaii received a $5,000 donation from the Kurt Suzuki Family Foundation in support of helping those with kidney cancer and raising awareness about the disease.
Commented Kurt Suzuki, “Renee (Kurt’s wife) and I wanted to make a contribution to Kaiser Permanente on Maui because it holds a special place in our hearts. My dad received treatment there when he was diagnosed with kidney cancer and he beat it thanks to their amazing doctors and staff.
“The Kurt Suzuki Family Foundation is centered around helping those with the disease and raising awareness, and it is our hope that this contribution will have an impact on other patients who walk through those doors looking for the same results as my dad.”
Suzuki is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Washington Nationals. He was born and raised in Wailuku and attended Baldwin High School.
Kaiser Permanente opened the Hawaii Region’s first Neighbor Island clinic with the opening of the Lahaina Clinic on July 1, 1969. Today, Maui clinics include Maui Lani, Wailuku, Kihei and Lahaina.
