(Maui) – The County of Maui is pleased to announce that it will sponsor the 39th Annual Maui County Senior Citizens Fair from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the War Memorial Gymnasium Complex. “The senior fair isn’t just for seniors,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa. “There’s food, entertainment and a lot of vendors and everyone has a good time. So come out and support our kupuna at the Senior Fair, because they truly are our community’s most valuable resource.”
The theme is Maui Seniors: Our Health is Our Wealth, which highlights the importance of staying healthy in order to enjoy the riches of life. The event is co-produced by the Maui County Office on Aging and Maui Economic Opportunity, and will feature 80 vendors, including several health screening booths.
“Everyone please come out in support of the senior clubs of Maui County,” said MEO CEO Lyn McNeff. “Besides picking up healthy living tips, the kupuna sell food and crafts to earn funds for their clubs’ recreational activities.” Mina Pharmacy will be giving flu shots.
Fair attendees will be treated to performances by Déjà Vu, Judy’s Gang, Daniel Lau & Keli’i Pio Mawae, Senior Group Chicken Dance, Hale Mahaolu Akahi Seniors, Lahaina Honolua Kupuna Serenaders, La’Tinas Dance and Fitness Zumba, Yaeko Yamamoto Dancers performing a Japanese Buyo Dance. Tom Rodriguez-Blackburn will emcee the show.
