(Honolulu)—Mayor Peter Carlisle will oversee installation of a giant Christmas tree on the Honolulu Hale lawn next week in preparation for the annual Honolulu City Lights celebration.
The 50-foot Norfolk Pine was harvested at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13 from Makaunulau Community Park (95-800 Makaunulau Street, Mililani) and will be installed on the Honolulu Hale lawn at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 15.
Another Norfolk Pine will be installed at Kapolei Hale the following week. Details will be announced later.
Honolulu City Lights opening night will be on December 1 at Honolulu Hale with a tree-lighting ceremony, parade, special entertainment, food booths and keiki rides. Displays and events will continue through December.
