(Hilo) — Hawai‘i Community College proudly presents the 25th Annual Earth Fair on Friday, April 19 at the Manono Campus in Hilo.
Free and open to the public, Earth Fair is the largest event Hawai‘i CC hosts for the community each year, and this year we are celebrating the event’s 25th anniversary.
Fun and educational activities, more than 50 exhibits, numerous giveaways, dancing, and music will highlight a day devoted to celebrating the earth and the environment.
There will be hula by Unukupukupu and Kua O Ka Lā Public Charter School; a Trash Fashion show; Tahitian and Samoan dancers; live music by Ras Sparrow, Bill Rodrigues-Kaiwa, and Positive Motion; entertainment by the Japan Club; Jesse Law’s “The Life Cycle of a Plastic Bottle” environmental presentation; storytelling; facepainting; garden tours; puppetry; and more.
Earth Fair is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but from 9 a.m. to noon the event is customized for school field trips.
There will be many surprises, and school participants and the general public can receive bags full of gifts, plants, goodies and informational brochures.
Hawai‘i CC’s Forest TEAM Program and Agriculture Program, along with other native plant growers, will donate over 1,000 free native tree seedlings and edible plants. There will be free drinks, free snacks, fresh fruit, cookies, and other giveaways.
Booths and exhibits will distribute information, and students and the public can view environmental videos in building 388-101.
Parking is free at the Manono Campus.
The “fair grounds” will be centrally located on the lower campus near the cafeteria and adjacent buildings.
Come to Hawai‘i Community College and celebrate the environment by learning about conservation and sustainability issues on our island.
