(Maui) – The public is invited to attend a disaster response exercise that will be conducted at Maui High School in Kahului on Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) volunteers will be competing in timed events, designed to reinforce specific CERT skills: Damaged Building Size-up, Search and Rescue with Victim Triage, Cribbing, and Splinting.
This exercise is also intended to generate public interest, volunteer involvement and increased enthusiasm for community preparedness. Sponsored by Maui Civil Defense Agency and the Maui Fire Department, the CERT program provides free training in community disaster response skills.
There will be a lunch break mid-day. Please bring a picnic lunch (and plenty of water for the day) to enjoy the shaded Maui High School grounds. CERT members will be available during this time to share their training and experiences.
At the end of the event, there will be door prize drawings open to all (18 years and older) attending the event. You must be present at the drawing to win. Please register for the prize drawings in the school cafeteria. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. through mid-day.
