(Honolulu)— Compassion & Choices Hawaii will host a free volunteer advocacy training session on Friday, June 21 from 3 – 7 p.m. at the YWCA on Richards St. in downtown Honolulu.
The training session will be led by Mickey MacIntyre, chief program officer for Compassion & Choices. Participants will learn about Compassion & Choices’ mission and vision, the history of the organization, how to talk about end of life choice and aid in dying in Hawaii, and about what they can do to help others attain a peaceful death.
Mary Steiner, Hawaii campaign manager for Compassion & Choices, said, “There is a growing national movement to secure more individual choice and autonomy over the treatment patients receive during their final days. Getting educated about options is the first step, and we invite anyone interested in becoming a volunteer to join us.”
The session is free but advance registration is required. Refreshments will be served. For more information or to register call 808-339-1608 or email smorrison@compassionandchoices.org.
