(Oahu)–From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, I’m Nicholas Garlow with HHS HealthBeat.
Become a disease detective with “Solve the Outbreak.’’ Get an idea of how much of you is fat or muscle with a body mass index calculator. Track flu-like activity with “FluView.’’ These are all apps, developed at HHS.
Sharon McAleer is at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and helped develop “Solve the Outbreak,’’ where you get to be disease detective and discover what’s making people sick.
“It’s a free, interactive iPad app that lets you take on the role of an EIS officer, also known as a disease detective. In the app, users have to figure out what disease you’re dealing with, and how the outbreak started.”
HHS has more than 25 mobile apps available for various mobile devices. You can find a full list onhhs.gov/digitalstrategy.
