(Kaua’i)–As part of the update to the South Kaua‘i Community Plan, the Planning Department will be conducting a three-day design workshop next week. The focus of the workshop will be on urban design and multi-modal circulation in Kalāheo and Kōloa, and the circulation network in Po‘ipū.
“Our Holo Holo 2020 plan is centered around the concept of ‘Growing Kaua‘i responsibly,’” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. “Our regional development plans are vitally important to realizing a vision for Kaua‘i that begins with the hopes and dreams of its people. We encourage the entire south Kaua‘i community to participate in this process.”
The public is invited to share their ideas at any or all of the following events:
- Monday, Sept. 9, 8:30 to 11 a.m., Kalāheo Neighborhood Center – A walk audit of the area will be conducted followed by a workshop.
- Monday, Sept. 9, 12 to 2:30 p.m., Kōloa Neighborhood Center – A walk audit followed by a workshop.
- Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Grand Hyatt Kaua’i Resort and Spa, Meeting Rooms 4 and 5 – Kalāheo and Kōloa Design Studio.
- Wednesday, Sept. 11, 9:30 to 11 a.m., Grand Hyatt Kaua’i Resort and Spa, Meeting Rooms 4 and 5 – Po‘ipū Design Studio.
The workshop will wrap up with a summary presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 5 p.m., at the Grand Hyatt Kaua’i Resort and Spa, Meeting Rooms 4 and 5.
“The input we receive during this workshop will help guide the growth and preservation of Kalāheo, Kōloa, and Po‘ipū,” said Michael Dahilig, planning director. “We encourage residents and stakeholders to participate in shaping the future of their communities.”
