(Honolulu)– UHA Health Insurance has donated $10,000 to Hawai‘i Pacific University to support the College of Nursing and Health Sciences – one of the state’s most productive sources of registered nurses.
“We know that students from Hawai‘i Pacific University will later serve the communities that have helped shaped their lives,” said UHA CEO Howard Lee. “Supporting Hawai‘i Pacific University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences is just one of our ways of contributing to the future of Hawaii’s health industry.”
HPU offers bachelor’s degrees in nursing and health sciences, as well as health-related degrees in biology, chemistry and multiple health-related minors, a dedicated Masters of Nursing Program and a rapidly expanding Health Science Program.
“We are grateful and excited to be the beneficiaries of UHA’s generosity. It is through support of our community partners, such as UHA, that we are able to improve the student experience and the value of HPU’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences to our community,” said HPU Provost Matthew Liao-Troth, Ph.D. “I am proud that our graduates leave HPU well-prepared for the diverse healthcare needs of today’s increasingly interconnected global community.”
UHA’s gift will go toward the College of Nursing and Health Science’s Dean’s Fund for Student Excellence. The purpose of the Dean’s Fund is to ensure student success and faculty excellence through student support, activities that build student and faculty community, expenses associated with student research, group projects, conferences, and equipment and materials related to research.
“UHA was founded by physicians, and we have been taking care of Hawaii’s families for over 17 years,” said Lee. “HPU students with determination to make an impact with their careers in the medical industry will be able to receive educational opportunities and will be able to learn with cutting edge equipment, both contributing to their overall learning experience and preparing them for the real world.”
