(Kauai) – County officials are reminding the public that the deadline to submit applications for the waiting list lottery for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is Wednesday, Oct. 29, 11:59 p.m.
The waiting list will be utilized to fill vacancies in the federally funded program, which provides rental assistance for very low-income families.
Applications are being accepted online at www.kauai.gov/housing or www.waitlistcheck.com/HI005.
Those without computers and/or access to the Internet can obtain a paper application by calling the County Housing Agency at 241-4440.
Paper applications must be mailed to: County Housing Agency, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 330, Līhu‘e, HI, 96766 and postmarked during the period that the waiting list open.
Applications will not be accepted in person at the Housing Agency.
Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Due to the limited funding, applications will be selected and added to the waiting list using a random lottery system. The time and date an application is received will have no bearing on the selection process.
Applicants who live and work in Kaua‘i County will be given preference on the waiting list.
Information regarding placement on the list will be available after the closing date.
If you need an ASL interpreter, materials in an alternate format, or other auxiliary aid support, please contact Sandy Kaauwai at 241-4440 or via email at skaauwai@kauai.gov at least seven calendar days before the application period ends.
For more information, please go to the county website, www.kauai.gov/housing, or call the Housing Agency.
