(Oahu)– Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui (Hawai‘i CC – Pālamanui) is hosting free workshops designed to help anyone who has trouble conquering the “math monster.”
Many current or incoming students have a fear of math that prevents them from pursuing and attaining the degree or certificate they are seeking. The workshop, titled “Slaying the Mental Math Monster for Good,” is designed to help them overcome their fears and frustrations and get on the path to success.
Participants can choose to attend one of the following sessions located at the new Hawai‘i CC – Pālamanui campus in North Kona:
- Wednesday, April 6, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Room 101
- Tuesday, April 12, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Room 126
- Thursday, April 21, 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Room 125
The workshops are free and are open to the public.
At the workshop, participants will learn: Valuable Tips to Overcome Your Negative Math Mindset; the New, Condensed Math Pathways at Hawai‘i CC – Pālamanui that are beginning in Fall 2016; Mini-Math Refresher; Valuable Resources to help you succeed in Math (both in testing and in classes).

In addition to offering associate degrees from Hawai‘i Community College, Hawai‘i CC – Pālamanui hosts the University Center, West Hawai‘i, which delivers over 50 degree and certificate programs from across the 10-campus University of Hawai‘i system. That means West Hawai‘i residents can obtain degrees from UH Mānoa, UH Hilo and UH West O‘ahu while living in West Hawai‘i. The University Center, West Hawai‘i provides the local student support for the distance learning degrees offered through the center.
